Mommy I'm Bored! What To Do With The Kids

WELCOME!

Welcome to the MOMS Club of the Tri-Town Area website.

We're a member club of the International MOMS Club, and serve the Tri-Town area of Frederick, Firestone, and Dacono, Colorado.

MOMS Club is all about MOMS Offering Moms Support. And we try to support our moms in as many ways as possible. We recognize that our members have different needs from a mom's club. In order to meet those needs, we try to provide a variety of events. Some of them are in the morning, and others in the afternoon. We try to mix it up to fit in with all our schedules, whether you have small ones at home or bigger children attending school.

Membership

Membership is open to stay-at-home moms with school-age children living in the Tri-Town area of Frederick, Firestone and Dacono, Colorado.

Dues are $20 per year. (If that's a hardship, we can work something out.)

With your membership, you receive a monthly newsletter which is mailed to you if you don't pick it up at the monthly meeting.

You are free to participate in any or all of the monthly activities, including playgroups. There is no minimum or maximum participation level.

Participation

It is up to the individual member to decide what level of participation works best for her and her family. Some members are very active, serving on the board or volunteering for coordinator positions.

Others just like receive the newsletter and come to a couple of public events, like the monthly meeting and a mall or park date.

There are many levels of participation in our club and you are welcome to "kick it up" a notch or lower it depending on your needs and those of your family. Sometimes a new baby, pregnancy or part-time job means that you have less time or desire to go to MOMS Club events. And other times you may have more time to participate in MOMS Club activities, like in the summer when your kids are out of school.

It's up to you to decide how much you'd like to do. There is no minimum or maximum and no pressure to participate more than you want to.

Monthly Events

Monthly Meeting
The monthly meeting is usually held on the third Wednesday of the month, and gets the whole group together.

During the warmer months, we meet at a Tri-Town area park. When it's bad weather, we meet at a local facility, like a church. It's also a chance to get your newsletter, celebrate a holiday, do some crafts, and find out what's happening with the MOMS Club.

Mom's Night Out
We alternate between meeting at a restaurant or having a pot luck at a member's home. This is a great opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with the other moms.

Coffee Break
A member hosts an informal morning coffee break at her home for a 1-2 hours. She provides coffee, tea and a light snack. This gives a chance for the moms to talk while the kids play.

Typical Activities

Field Trips
Among the many activities we've done away from the Tri-Town area are free factory tours, zoo trips, museum visits, berry picking, pumpkin patches, roller skating, and bowling.

Playground Dates
We meet at Tri-Town area parks when the weather permits.

Mall Dates
We've gone to the FREE play areas at the Twin Peaks Mall and FlatIrons Mall.

Events at Members Homes
Some members host a one-time event, like an ice cream social or a pool date, and others choose to host the monthly coffee break.

Playgroups

Playgroups meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays and Wednesdays of the month.

We break down the playgroups into the same month/year format that the St. Vrain Valley School District uses:

  • 10/1/02 to 9/30/03 (4+ years)
  • 10/1/03 to 9/30/04 (3+ years)
  • 10/1/04 to 9/30/05 (2+ years)
  • 10/1/05 to 9/30/06 (1+ years)
  • 10/1/06 to 9/30/07 (baby)

(If you feel your child would fit better into a different age group, you can discuss this with our Playgroup Coordinator.)

Each group has a Contact Person who reports to our Playgroup Coordinator. The Contact Person is in charge of communicating to all members of her group. She may or may not be in charge of the planning events, as some groups like taking turns doing this.

In turn, the Playgroup Coordinator makes sure things are running smoothly with the playgroups, deals with any problems that may arise, and makes the necessary adjustments.

Playgroups typically meet at Tri-Town area parks when the weather permits, at members homes, or may take a field trip to a local attraction. This is left up to the discretion of the playgroup members.

Also, we do not hold MOMS Club activities on playgroup days.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a wonderful way to get to know the other MOMS Club members better.

There are many ways to volunteer. You can host an event at a park, mall, library or museum. All you have to do is take phone or email RSVPs, be able to give directions to the event, and show up.

Or you can become more involved and host an event at your home, volunteer for a board or coordinator position, or participate in a service project.

It's up to you! Remember, we want members to be comfortable in their level of participation in the MOMS Club. You should never feel pressured to volunteer more than you want to.

Interested in volunteering? Please email us! It's that easy.

Service Projects

MOMS Club Service Projects are a way we give back to our community. Our Service Project Coordinator helps organize activities such as library book fundraisers, and area trash pickups.

One of our most successful efforts is our annual Santa Cops project. Each year right after Thanksgiving, the Frederick Police Department gives us a list of families in need and their children’s names, ages, clothing sizes and needs/wants.

In 2003, the MOMS Club of the Tri-Town area helped seven families and over 20 children have a special Christmas. In 2004, our fourth year participating, we helped 22 children and six families. MOMS Club members can help out by donating time and money to buy presents. We also give those members who don't have the time to shop the option to donate money to go towards gifts.

Another service project that we're proud to have participated in was the 2005 American Cancer Society's Tri-Town Relay for Life event. The MOMS Club team raised $1,500! Our members also walked in the relay and worked in the Survivors Tent.

Support

The MOMS in MOMS Club stands for MOMS Offering Moms Support. Whether you need a playgroup for your child or just a chance to meet other women who are going through the same things you are, we're here to support you.

One of the special benefits of joining the MOMS Club of the Tri-Town Area is our Sunshine Committe. Just had a baby? Is an illness or job layoff affecting your family? The Sunshine Coordinator will "rally the troops" and get you help, whether it's precooked meals or babysitting.
